Teacher Orders Students To Attack And Beat Journalist While On Duty. Photos

A school teacher allegedly ordered student to attack and beat a journalist covering a school fire break out.




According to reports, the victim identified as William Mutyaba of Bukedde TV was beaten on Monday 23 July, 2018 at about 9pm when he was covering a fire that had gutted one of the school dormitories at St. Augustine’ College Kayunga in Wakiso district, Uganda.

Mutyaba told HRNJ-Uganda that the teacher, a one Akena ordered the students to kill him, “you students come beat and kill this man, he is the Bukedde journalist, he even covered the fire last time, you beat him, kill him”, he said.


Mutyaba says as he tried to run away with his camera, the security guard locked the gate, so the students beat him up in an attack that lasted about an hour. He was rescued by another security guard warning that the students were about to kill the man.

HRNJ-Uganda team of three lawyers and the Executive Director appeared at the Wakiso police station earlier today to follow up a case of assault which was filed by the victim journalist almost a week ago.

This journalist suffered severe chest pain, bruised eye and other injuries.
