Good News For Barcelona And Totteham As Chelsea Key Players Pull Out Of Clash

Chelsea defender David Luiz has been ruled out of the Blues clash against Barcelona as he suffered a relapse in his ankle and knee injuries.

The Brazilian has been battling with injuries since November and that is responsible for his lack of regular first-team action for the Blues this term. He has started just four matches for the West London club since last November.

Luiz’s knee injury could be traced back to the career-threatening tackle from Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero in the Blues’ 3-1 win over the Citizens at the Etihad in December 2016.

According to the Evening Standard back in 2016, the former Paris Saint-German defender traveled to Barcelona for treatment from numerous specialists to reduce the pain and longevity.

With the recent setback to the player’s road to full fitness, Chelsea will be without him for the clash against Barcelona, Saturday’s FA Cup quarter final fixture against Leicester City, and a must-win clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

Andreas Christensen who replaced the Brazilian in Conte’s starting lineup in recent weeks has been impressive for the Blues, but the Denmark international looked shaky in their previous games against Barcelona and Manchester City.

Chelsea must avoid playing a goalless draw against Barcelona if they must qualify to the next round of the competition. They must also defeat Tottenham who are five points above them in the race for a top-four finish.
