Chelsea to wait until the summer to push through deal for £70m rated star

Chelsea will not move for Juventus defender Alex Sandro in January, instead, wait until the summer to pursue a deal.

The Daily Star quote Italian football journalist Gabriele Marcotti, who claims Juventus will look to hold onto the player in the new year, despite his recent dip in form.

"Alex Sandro of course in the summer, a lot of talk about Chelsea offering vast sums. You’re talking £65, £70, £75m and a year ago he certainly was on that level.

But he’s having a very poor season this year, at Juve often Asamoah plays ahead of him. As I see it, I don’t see why Juve would let him go."

Sandro was linked with a big-money move to Stamford Bridge throughout the summer but Chelsea were unable to agree a deal with the Italian champions.

The Brazilian has not hit the heights that he did last season during the current campaign for the Turin side, but Juventus will want to keep hold of him until the summer so they are not selling him for below his market value.

Sandro is also being touted by Manchester United with Jose Mourinho desperate to sign a new left-back.
