Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has reportedly suffered broken ribs after the Argentine forward was involved in a car crash in Amsterdam on Thursday night. Reports in Argentina said Aguero, who was in the Netherlands to attend a concert of Colombian singer-songwriter Maluma, was riding in a taxi when the vehicle crashed into a pole.
Manchester City later confirmed their striker had ‘sustained injuries’ during the incident.
Aguero, 29, is thought to have escaped more serious injury because he was wearing his seatbelt during the incident, which is said to have happened while he was making his way back to the airport, but is thought to have received hospital treatment as a result.
City confirmed Aguero was involved in the accident and that he would return to Manchester on Friday morning to be assessed by club doctors. They confirmed he was in Holland on his day off and had ‘sustained injuries’.
Reports in Argentina say the forward could face up to two months out with those injuries, following the accident involving the Chrysler PT Cruiser he was being driven in.
Premier League leaders City face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, but Aguero appears unlikely to be involved at this stage.
