Major Construction Of World's Longest Cross-Sea Bridge Completed

Construction of the main bridge of the sea-crossing project in the Pearl River Estuary was completed on Sept. 27 (yesterday). Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge (HZMB) will have a total length of about 55 km, including a 6.7 km underwater tunnel and a 23-km bridge over the sea, making it the longest cross-sea bridge in the world.

The bridge will greatly reduce the travel time between Zhuhai and Hong Kong, from more than three hours by car or around one hour by sea, to less than 30 minutes. The project will also allow a circumnavigation of the three cities for the first time, which will take one hour.
