Teenager arrested after 'man in his 50s raped in Next toilets'

A teenager has been arrested after reports that a man in his fifties was raped in toilets at the Arndale Centre in Manchester on Friday.
Police were called to the shopping mall just after 11am, when it was busy with customers.
It’s understood the alleged victim told officers he had been attacked in the toilets of Next.

Security guards held the suspect until police arrived, it has been reported.
The 19 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape and taken into custody where detectives questioned him, according to the Daily Mail.

Greater Manchester Police said the alleged attack was ‘shocking’ but thanked staff for their swift response.
The alleged victim was offered support by officers trained to help people who have been sexually assaulted.


Detective Sergeant Chris Maddocks from GMP’s Serious Sexual Crimes Unit said: ‘This was an incredibly shocking incident which happened in a busy store.


‘Our specialist officers are with the victim and will ensure he has all the support he needs.
‘We would like thank the staff at Next and the Arndale Centre, we have a man in custody and it is thanks to their swift action.’
