Many MTN subscribers have complained about illegal deductions for services not requested for and not needed by them.
Added to this is the recent directive by MTN to subscribers to urgently visit its shops for SIM verification with identity cards. Multitude of subscribers throng MTN premises daily for this exercise but they experience much hardships due to snail speed at which staffers attend to them with not more than one service points at most.
One wonders why MTN failed to go through the due process when the subscribers initially purchased their SIM cards having carried out similar exercise in the past.
To this end, I appeal to the Nigerian Communications Commisson to intervene and ensure that genuine subscribers’ lines are not blocked until more than 80 per cent of affected subscribers are attended to while they (MTN) should create more service centres.
Also, no service provider should henceforth charge or deduct from customers for unusual services not requested for by the customers, while renewal fee for requested unusual services on due dates must be duly confirmed by subscribers before deductions.
