President Goodluck Jonathan
According to Reuben Abati, who is Special Adviser on Media and publicity to President Goodluck Jonathan, the President was not affected by the gun battle that occured today around the headquarters of the Department of State Services and the presidential villa.
In a statement posted to his Twitter and Facebook, Abati said President Jonathan was unharmed in the shootout between the army and insurgents.
What happened at the SSS HQs has nothing to do with the Villa. President Jonathan is safe & well. Thank you for your concern & support.

What happened at the SSS HQ this morning was an attempted jailbreak which has been effectively foiled. There is no cause for alarm.

The presidential villa has one of its gates overlooking the SSS headquarters. The SSS issued a statement shortly after the attack claiming that the gun battle began after a detainee disarmed an operative and tried to effect a jailbreak.
However, many say that the statement is "untrue and misleading."
