Onitsha, Anambra State - One person was killed, ten others sustained various degrees of inuries as a result of a clash between members of MASSOB and police officers.
The disorder started when a police team stopped a motorist along the Onitsha/Owerri Road in Onitsha. An argument ensued between the policemen and the motorist.
Members of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, which has been controlling the traffic since the Yuletide season began, intervened in the matter. The argument escalated, and one of the MASSOB members was killed.

Retaliating, the MASSO members barricaded the ever-busy Onitsha/Owerri road for two hours, made bonfire with used tyres, forcing traffic flow to divert to the Obosi by-pass.
The body of the dead MASSOB member was reportedly taken to the Awada Police Station.
While confirming the incident, the Onitsha Police Area commander, Mr. Benjamin Wordu, however, said the MASSOB and a rival group had a clash. He added that a team of policemen was sent to the troubled area, and normalcy has since returned.
